"We are Harmaniacs" Blog!

The Harmon's have a blog....YES, they have a blog! I am so excited.

A little background on Mindy and me....we met back in 6th grade (yes, that was a very long time ago...ha!) and we always joke that at first neither one of us liked each other for whatever reason (we can't remember)..but thankfully that changed and we became the best of friends. Fast forward through the school years...her family moved to Utah the year after we graduated, she met Blaine, married shortly there after and they have 5 beautiful children! For many years I was blessed with the chance (flying perks at MLT) to go visit them every year. This gave me the opportunity to get to know their children and spend some quality time with the family. When I got married in 2004, Mindy and family made the trip back to MN (the first time for her in 12 years) and she was my matron of honor, Garrett (her oldest son) was our ring bearer and Megan & Rachel (her two older girls) were our guest book attendants. I was so happy they were all able to make it back for this important time in my life and share in the memories. The last time I was able to see them was fall of 2005, when I went out to Utah for work and was able to go out early to spend the weekend with them. While out there for this visit, Mindy and I were able to sneak away for dinner alone...this was so much fun! We hadn't been out, just her and I, in years....I love her family dearly, but getting to spend this time with her was awesome. We laughed so hard (which isn't hard to do when you spend time with Mindy) and enjoyed a great evening out. Oh the memories from that night! :)

I haven't seen the Harmon's since 2005, but we have managed to connect a few times throughout the years, either by phone or e-mail. We can always manage to pick right up where were left off the last time. I miss her and the family and look forward to the next time we can see each other. Love ya Harmon's! :)

Update.....

The inspection on our house passed, so we have passed that hurdle. The last one we have to pass on the sale of our home is the appraisal. We're crossing our fingers that goes through.

We have also found our new home! Everything about the house is new and updated...but the kitchen. But...of all the homes we have seen, we have agreed we can live with the kitchen for a year or so and then we can / will remodel. In a lot of ways I am happy it is the way it is because now, we can make it the way we want it. We made an offer (okay, a couple) and they finally accepted our final offer. Our agent (Traci, with Edina Realty ((Morelli Mafia on the right))) received the signed Purchase Agreement today. We have our inspection to pass next Tuesday and then the appraisal. Say an extra prayer for us...please! :) (I've been doing a lot of that lately!)

If everything goes according to plan, our closing is still planned for sometime before Sept. 26th.

It's SOLD!!!

We sold our house! We signed the purchase agreement this weekend and have already been out looking for our new home. We are super excited, but scared shitless. It is so overwhelming! Of the 5 homes we looked at today, we liked 2 of them. We are going out tomorrow night to look at 5 more. Provided everything goes okay with the inspections, our closing will be on or around 9/26. That gives us approx. 2 weeks to find the house we want to buy.

It still hasn't completely sunk in that we have finally sold our home and get to look and buy a new one. Part of me will actually miss this home. I like that our home has a more current updated look....I only hope we can find something similar. I'm sure we won't get everything we want....but I sure hope we don't have to a make a lot of compromises. I'm excited to decorate it my/our way....but it is also a little overwhelming....okay, a lot overwhelming!!

It takes me a little while to accept change. I keep telling myself that this is all good....our next home is only because we want / need a better layout for a family. We want multiple bedrooms and a bathroom all on the same level. We want a fenced in backyard for Sydney and Bo. We want nice neighbors. We want this home to have good resale value in 5-6 years.

I'm sure I am just rambling...I'm a little stressed (but also excited!) and can't wait for the next chapter of our life to begin. If only I could blink my eyes and everything would be done!

Stay tuned....I'm sure there will be more rambling posts during this crazy journey!

Numbers

The other day Sydney and I were counting numbers in Spanish...uno, dos, tres (I was saying them) and next thing I know, Sydney says "cuatro". Uh? Wow....she surprises me everyday! But then she said "crocodile"....that cracked me up! Not sure where that came from....but she did say cuatro plain as day. :)
