We had a very busy weekend! We had a lot to do to get our house ready to go on the market TODAY!! I swear we have been working on de-cluttering our house for a week now and this morning it looks great! But by all the, sorting and going through things, I got into the mode of either "get rid of" or "throw it out"...I did a lot of both! Our house really looks no one lives there, that is how much we stuff we "took out". We had a staging lady (courtesy of our agents) come to our house on Sat. She gave us a lot of really great ideas, that hardly cost us any money and we really like some of the changes. One of the changes is kind of weird though...in our dining room we have shelves on the wall. I had stuff on all four shelves...she had me take everything off ONE of the shelves. Everything else I could leave. The reasoning for that is so the people looking at the house can imagine their stuff there...but it looks funny. But if it helps sell my house...okay, I will do it!
One of the funnies in cleaning out the house was when I finally took on the laundry room. (Keep in mind one of the reasons we are selling this house is really because we have out grown it and we don't have enough closet space...there are only 3 closets in this house..UGH!!) We had 5 laundry baskets in there that all had clean clothes in them, but I didn't know what was all in them and not everything was folded. As I was going through everything, I discovered one of those baskets had a bunch of my pants / capris in it. Well, I knew that in my closet I had a bunch of pants / capris / comfy pants....So, I decided after I tackled the baskets, I would tackle the pants in the closets and from the basket (the tops I will do later). OMG....I had over 75 pairs of pants (all different styles, colors and sizes). I knew I had a lot of pants...but that was crazy! Since we are in the process of losing weight (for real...I'll blog about that later ((Jim has already lost 25 and I have already lost 20))), I decided to keep a few of my "old" smaller size favorites, but the pants that I didn't really like when I fit in them...I got rid of them. In the end, I really only kept the pants that I really liked. I got rid of about 40. It felt good to go through them...now I just need to go through my tops. I know I will get rid of a lot of them too!
Our house looks great, I feel good about everything that I went through and got rid of. I feel like I should just keep packing though....I'll hold off though, I don't want to jinx myself. I just want the house to sell this time. Wish us luck!
Now that the house is done, I will have more time to upload pictures....look for an update with lots of new pictures sometime this week!
